Before there were platinum albums and corporate tours, there were city cyphers; emcees gathered to rhyme purely for sake of rhyming. We created DJBooth’s new City Cypher series in that spirit, and for the first episode, we had to keep it NYC and set up shop on a Brooklyn rooftop. It’s just turntables, a mic and emcees Black Dave, Emilio Rojas, Maffew Ragazino, HD and Kirk Knight going in.
